2 Tips for a Better Diet with Diabetes

👋 Hey Reader, lets talk about diet 🍽

Welcome back to the Springtime Nutrition community, where you will learn to Flourish with Diabetes.

👩‍🍳 Diabetes & Diet👩‍🍳

I am a Certified Diabetes educator... but before that I was (and still am!) a Registered Dietitian.

I love to talk about food. Everyone eats different food, prepares foods differently, and has a different pattern of eating for different reasons. It is so interesting to me!

If you are trying to eat well for diabetes, I understand it can be difficult.

2 tips for today:

  • Aim for eating well 80% of the time.
    • 20% of the time, or a few meals/snacks per week, you can eat higher carb foods, go out to eat or splurge!
    • Your diet doesn't have to be perfect! None of us are perfect!
  • Make sure you add healthy fats and lots of protein to your meals. This will help with:
    • Feeling of fullness after meals
    • Slower digestion of these nutrients
      • Combined with carbs, this is what produces FABULOUS blood sugars!
